Year o' fic 2: Gatchaman; The Way of the World

Again, difficult to begin, difficult do continue, and actually, difficult to end this time, or at least make Ken stop talking. For [info]mendax, her 10th request in her year o' fic.

Title: The Way of the World

Rating: R for their dirty mouths, etc.
Warnings: Violence and death (in Gatch? Really?), cursing, angst with no happy ending in sight. Also, more than just a hint of slash.
Notes: Part 4 of what I've decided I have to call "The Way" series. Follows The Way It's Gotta Be, The Way You Want It and The Way the World Ends

Year o' fic 2: Gatchaman; The Way the World Ends

Now, normally, [info]mendax's prompts for her year of fic are... well, easy. As in, easy to get started, easy to work through, easy to polish and finish.

This one definitely wasn't any of those things. I couldn't get started; once I got started, I couldn't hold on. I was desperate enough to break out my (undubbed, unsubbed) tapes of Gatchaman II, just to try to get into the mood. This just got finished; it hasn't got any polish.

That this is late is entirely my fault, not at all the fault of the prompt, because damn, I'd been expecting this prompt since October or November of last year. So, [info]mendax, I'm very sorry that this is so late, and am willing to take on any penalty you think is fit.

So, because I can be E.V.I.L. (no, really!), and because I am, to quote [info]mendax "hoisting [info]joannindiw on a loosely-worded petard", I wrote the following. This, despite knowing for a fact that [info]joannindiw reads pretty much only slash. But I was goosed by an imp and couldn't stop myself.

Year o' fic 2: Gatchaman; Eye of the Storm

So, this was the fic for which I requested a prompt from [info]mendax before Christmas and other assorted calamaties. However, because she's so busy, [info]mendax didn't even see my prompt request until the beginning of January. So it's definitely not a Christmas fic... but it does deal with a certain 4-letter word around these parts. *grin*

Once I got started, this fic was fun to write, though the title gave me hell (as titles are wont to do).

Rating: PG (if that)
Warnings: Gen (omg, how bad am I that I have to warn for gen?) (There may be the merest hint of slash.  If you look sideways.  And squint.  A lot. ^^;;;;; )

While I knew for a fact that [info]mendax was going to request a continuation or companion to the last ficlet for her year o' fic, I had trouble getting started. I'm not sure why; I had the idea in my head. Maybe it was that I wasn't quite sure what Joe was going to say. Anyway, I did manage to finish. :D
